Thursday-Saturday, 8pm Caminos Flamencos and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra Bolero! R&H Segerstrom Concert Hall Irvine, CA Guest conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto takes us on a trip to the
Iberian Peninsula, beginning with Albéniz' guided tour, followed by Ravel's gypsy-inspired rhapsody and Sarasate's virtuosic Fantasy on Bizet's "Carmen" — featuring two-time Grammy nominee Philippe Quint. The dancers
of Caminos Flamencos take center stage for De Falla's charming ballet about a magistrate who falls in love with
a married woman, followed by the most famous 11 minutes in classical music, Ravel's mesmerizing "Bolero." www.pacificsymphony.org/main.taf?p=9,5,6,6&productionID=6810
December 17-19, 2010 Fri-Sat 8pm, Sun 3pm Caminos Flamencos presents Lo
Clasico The Cowell Theater at Fort Mason,
SF "What is classic?" The 2010 Season
Premiere, "Lo Clasico," is a holiday
concert for the entire family that pays tribute to all
things classical - Spanish classical dances set to Ravel, Manuel
de Falla, as well as the more traditional, fiery flamenco that
the Company is recognized for. Caminos Flamencos sets the
standard in flamenco dance concerts for the highest quality and artistic innovation found anywhere. Emmy Award-winning choreographer Yaelisa unites 22 dancers and musicians onstage for an exploration into what makes something classical. La Danza del Fuego, a jazz standard, a Jerez-style Bulerias, or her signature solo, Soleares, considered the mother of all flamenco, defines the genre. Guests artists from Spain Oscar Valero, singer/dancer, Jesus Montoya and Felix de Lola join Musical Director Jason McGuire "El Rubio," and soloists Melissa Cruz, Fanny Ara and
Marina Elana.
